Ambuc Park
About Ambuc Park
Sports Facilities
Sprawling across 9.8 acres, Ambuc Park offers plenty of room for sports enthusiasts and community gatherings alike.
Baseball and softball take center stage here, with four lighted fields complete with digital scoreboards that bring a touch of big-league excitement to local games. The fields host everything from youth rec leagues to middle school baseball and select fast-pitch softball competitions.
Year-round, the park comes alive with softball and baseball tournaments that draw teams from across the region. The meticulously maintained grounds create a clean, welcoming environment for both players and fans.
Inclusive Playground
A notable feature is the newly completed inclusive playground at Ambuc Park. This thoughtfully designed space ensures that children of all abilities can play together without barriers.
The playground features some truly innovative equipment, including wheelchair swings that allow kids with mobility challenges to experience the joy of swinging. The "Flying Fox" - a handicap-accessible zip line - is a particular favorite, offering thrills regardless of ability level. There's also a zero-entry merry-go-round that welcomes everyone to the fun.
Instead of traditional mulch or sand, the playground surface is covered with artificial turf, making it much easier for wheelchairs to navigate while providing a softer landing for inevitable tumbles. These features make the playground accessible to children of different abilities.
Amenities
Practical comfort hasn't been overlooked at Ambuc Park. The paved parking areas make access straightforward, even on busy game days.
When hunger strikes, the full concession stands offer surprisingly good options beyond typical park fare - you can even find chicken and waffles and pasta dishes here. Clean restroom facilities are conveniently located across the park, a small but important detail when spending the day outdoors.
Additional Features
If you're looking to get some steps in, the nicely maintained walking paths wind through the property, meant for a casual stroll or a more purposeful workout.
Note that the playground area doesn't offer much shade, so morning or early evening visits are your best bet during Georgia's warmer months. The park also features an indoor swimming pool, providing a refreshing option for cooling off when the temperature rises.
