Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park
About Julius M. Kleiner Memorial Park
A Park With History
Established in 2012, this beautiful green space was gifted to Meridian in honor of Julius M. Kleiner, who once farmed this very land. The Memorial Plaza features a bronze statue of Julius himself, a tribute to the man behind the name.
There's also a peaceful veterans/military section with memorial benches that honors those who served. It's a quiet corner meant for a moment of reflection away from the busier areas of the park.
Natural Beauty Everywhere
Spanning 58 acres, the park features two serene ponds - one about 3 acres in size and another measuring 1.5 acres. Both are stocked for fishing and include an accessible fishing dock. You might reel in trout or pumpkinseed sunfish if luck is on your side!
The landscape features rolling hills and an arboretum that includes a winding labyrinth. On warm days, you'll likely spot the park's wildlife residents - ducks and geese gliding across the water, maybe even turtles sunbathing by the ponds' edges.
Paths for Days
Over 3.5 miles of pedestrian pathways meander through the grounds, good for walking, jogging, or cycling. There's also a loop roadway with a dedicated bike lane if you prefer to ride.
Both paved and gravel paths are well-maintained and accessible, making this a great spot for everyone regardless of mobility level.
Heart of the Park
At the center, you'll find the Grand Promenade and Memorial Plaza, with decorative concrete, pavers, and benches under ornamental lighting.
The civic complex houses the Meridian Branch Library and a bustling Senior Center that offers activities and lunch service. For the little ones, multiple playground areas include tot lots and a fun splash pad that's great for cooling off during hot Idaho summers. Feeling hungry after all that play? A seasonal concession stand near the playground area serves up refreshments when the weather's warm.
Get Your Game On
Active types will appreciate the variety of courts available - basketball, sand volleyball, tennis, and pickleball courts attract players of all skill levels throughout the year.
There's also a beginner-friendly 9-hole disc golf course winding through the grounds that offers just enough challenge to keep things interesting. If you're looking for something more laid-back, try the bocce ball courts for a leisurely game with friends.
You'll even find adult outdoor exercise equipment stationed across the park, complete with QR codes that show you how to use each piece properly.
Community Hub
The park's bandshell/amphitheater hosts performances throughout the year. Summer Friday evenings often feature concerts, and community events pop up regularly.
Planning a gathering? Several covered pavilions with picnic tables can be reserved for private events, offering perfect spots for birthday celebrations, family reunions, or casual get-togethers.
Three obelisks stand as distinctive landmarks within the grounds. And when you're ready to combine outdoor time with some shopping or dining, The Village mall sits conveniently nearby.
