Commissioners Park
About Commissioners Park
A Look Back & Where to Find It
Dating back to 1966, Commissioners Park is one of Naperville's most established green spaces. Since 2001, it's gone through several makeovers to become what it is today.
You'll find this park at the corner of 111th and 248th Streets in Naperville, Illinois.
For the Sports Enthusiasts
This place offers a wide variety of sports facilities with fields and courts for baseball, basketball, soccer, football, and even cricket.
The turf soccer field is genuinely impressive (no muddy cleats here!), and the baseball diamonds and sand volleyball courts are kept in great condition year-round.
For something a bit different, check out the roller hockey rink - not something you find at every park.
Interestingly, Commissioners has become something of a hotspot for cricket, with quality cricket grounds that draw players from all around the area.
Getting Active on the Trails
One of our favorite features has to be the approximately 1-mile loop trail that comes complete with fitness stations where you can squeeze in some strength training between laps.
The path is smooth and well-maintained, perfect whether you're walking the dog, going for a jog, or taking a leisurely bike ride through the park's natural scenery.
The Natural Side of Things
Beyond the sports fields, there's a charming pond that adds a touch of serenity to the landscape.
The park strikes a nice balance between places to play and spaces to unwind, with a thoughtful design that incorporates both active zones and quieter natural areas.
If you visit during autumn, you're in for a treat - the wooded sections and open meadows transform with the changing seasons, creating some pretty spectacular views.
The Practical Stuff
You can find clean restrooms in the main building - nothing fancy, but they're well-maintained and stocked with essentials.
There are plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout, making it easy to plan a family lunch or a casual outdoor meal with friends.
A covered shelter area offers some welcome shade on hot days, and parking is abundant, so you won't need to circle endlessly even during weekend tournaments.
Family-Friendly Features
The thoughtfully designed playground includes safety features that parents will appreciate, suitable for kids of different ages and abilities.
Bring your pup along too - this park is very dog-friendly, with plenty of space for four-legged family members to explore alongside you.
Commissioners Park functions as multiple spaces in one - a sports complex, a nature retreat, and a community gathering space.
