About Gartner Park

Year-Round Fun for Everyone

Located on Gartner Road in Naperville, Illinois, Gartner Park might not be the biggest green space around, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm and versatility. The park district crew keeps this place impressively clean and welcoming - a little outdoor haven that changes with the seasons but always offers something to do.

Winter Wonderland

When snow blankets Naperville, Gartner Park transforms into a winter playground. The sled hill opens its slopes once there's at least two inches of powder and the ground is properly frozen. Grab your sled or snowboard and join the locals for some downhill fun!

There's also an ice skating rink that appears when Jack Frost cooperates with the right conditions. Just note that unlike some of Naperville's other rinks, this one doesn't have lights, so you'll need to wrap up your skating adventures before darkness falls - specifically, one hour after sunset.

Sports Central

When warmer weather rolls around, Gartner Park sheds its winter identity. The open sports fields become well-suited for impromptu soccer matches or touch football games with friends.

There are at least two youth softball diamonds, making it a popular spot during baseball season. And if basketball is more your thing, head over to the basketball courts to shoot some hoops or join a pickup game.

Kid-Approved Zone

Gartner Park really shines as a family destination. The playground features modern equipment thoughtfully divided for different age groups - a special section for the under-3 crowd and more challenging structures for kids up to 12 years old. The well-lit play area means the fun doesn't have to end early on those long summer evenings.

Parents will appreciate the strategically placed benches where you can take a breather while keeping an eye on your little ones. With the baseball field nearby, it's an ideal spot for families with kids of varying ages - the teenagers can practice their batting while the younger siblings conquer the playground.

Part of Something Bigger

Gartner Park is one piece of Naperville's park system. The Naperville Park District manages over 2,400 acres of parkland across 137 different parks throughout the city.
