Ingersoll Memorial Park
About Ingersoll Memorial Park
Disc Golf Course
Since 2018, this park has been home to an 18-hole disc golf course that's become quite the local favorite. If you're just starting out or have been playing for years, the course accommodates different skill levels - red tees offer a more approachable game for beginners, while the white tees provide that extra distance for more experienced players.
The course winds through a mostly flat landscape dotted with mature oak trees. There's something peaceful about playing among these gentle giants, even as they add a nice strategic element to your game. The concrete tee pads are a welcome touch, and the clear signage means you won't be wandering around wondering where to go next.
Park Amenities
Beyond disc golf, the park offers plenty of space to simply enjoy the outdoors. The large shelter features two fireplaces and numerous picnic tables, making it suitable for family gatherings or meetups with friends. You'll discover additional picnic tables throughout the grounds, though they're a bit more limited once you venture beyond the shelter area.
The flat terrain makes getting around easy for everyone, including those with mobility challenges. During the warmer seasons (spring through fall), you'll have access to drinking water and a portable restroom - always good to know when you're planning to spend a few hours outdoors.
Traditional Golf Course
Long before the disc golf arrived, Ingersoll has been known for its traditional golf course. It's refreshingly unpretentious - the kind of course where casual players can enjoy a round without breaking the bank or feeling intimidated.
The layout presents a few interesting challenges (especially for right-handed players with a tendency to slice), but it's generally quite forgiving. You probably won't spend half your afternoon searching for lost balls, which is always a plus. It's a pleasant, straightforward course that lets you focus on enjoying your game rather than being punished for every minor mistake.
Playground Area
If you're bringing little ones along, there's a small playground that's particularly suited for toddlers and younger children. While it's not the most elaborate play space you can find, it provides just enough entertainment to keep the younger set happy while older family members enjoy other park activities.
Visitor Experience
There's a calm, peaceful quality to Ingersoll that makes it great for those days when you just need to clear your head with a quiet walk or some time in nature. The park is dog-friendly too, so your leashed four-legged friends are welcome to join you.
Yes, the park has evolved over the years, and some longtime visitors note it has a different character now than in decades past. Nevertheless, it remains a well-maintained green space offering various recreational opportunities in a natural setting.
