About the Location
A Historic Space Just South of Downtown
Tucked away just a mile south of downtown Evansville sits Tepe Park, in a historic neighborhood that shares its name. This isn't just any green space - it's a place where community history and everyday life intersect, creating something special among the charming residential streets that surround it.
You can feel the neighborhood pride here, with recent revitalization efforts breathing new energy into this longstanding community gathering spot.
Shoot Some Hoops, Climb Some Heights
The park's recently built basketball court has become something of a neighborhood hotspot, where you'll often find local players of all ages engaged in friendly competition. Nearby, a modern playground offers a place for the older kids to climb, swing, and burn off energy.
These newer additions came from improvements by Evansville officials and neighborhood groups working to update the park's facilities. It offers a quieter atmosphere compared to downtown.
What You'll Find Here
Need a spot for a small family reunion or birthday celebration? The park's covered shelter makes an excellent home base for gatherings of about 10 people. When nature calls, you'll appreciate the clean restroom facilities inside the main building.
Just a heads-up on parking - it's limited to street spaces around the park, so you might need to circle the block once or twice. This isn't the place for massive events, but that's part of its intimate charm.
More Than a Park
Look around and you'll notice Tepe Park sits amid historic homes, some with architecture dating back to the early 1900s. The neighborhood has embraced improvement through community gardens and beautification projects championed by the dedicated Tepe Park Neighborhood Association.
The park offers recreation facilities while also providing a center for neighborhood activities.
Accessibility Information
While there is a ramp leading to the main building, it's worth noting that wheelchair accessibility has some limitations. The ramp serves more as a basic entrance pathway rather than a fully accessible feature.
