About the Location
A Green Haven for Everyone
Situated in Fishers, Indiana, Cumberland Park spreads across more than 40 acres of land, offering plenty of outdoor recreation options. This sprawling green space combines natural beauty with practical amenities, providing space for everything from quiet afternoon strolls to active sports days. There's something liberating about all that open space - room to breathe, play, and just be.
Flinging Discs Through Nature
If you've got a thing for disc golf, you're in luck. The park features a 9-hole course with 18 tees suitable for both beginners and experienced players. As you play, you'll be treated to some pretty gorgeous views, especially along the holes that border the verdant, tree-lined Mud Creek. Just a heads-up though - if your throw isn't quite on target near the creek, you might be saying goodbye to your disc as it takes an unplanned swim.
Fields of Dreams
Sports fans haven't been forgotten here. The park maintains seven soccer fields in tip-top shape, which become the battlegrounds for youth leagues run by Mudsock Youth Athletics, a local nonprofit. These fields are well-maintained and in good condition. On any given weekend, you'll discover them buzzing with energy as parents and friends cheer on young athletes from the sidelines.
Nature's Pathway
Feeling like stretching your legs? The half-mile trail takes you across a bridge spanning Mud Creek before connecting with the broader Mud Creek Greenway. The paved path, shaded by a canopy of trees, follows the gentle curves of the creek, creating a peaceful retreat for walkers and joggers alike. While you won't find a complete loop (the trails branch out instead), the experience is still thoroughly enjoyable - especially if you've got a four-legged friend in tow.
Picnicking in the Park
When hunger strikes, you'll come across picnic tables and grills dotted within the grounds - fantastic for impromptu lunches or planned gatherings. Need a bit of shelter? Head to the covered picnic area with its robust tables and convenient vending machine. For special occasions like birthdays or family reunions, you can reserve the rentable shelter, which includes an indoor space to make your event that much more comfortable.
The Practical Stuff
Cumberland Park provides public restrooms (located in the central sitting area), parking spots (many with shade), and electrical outlets. The park welcomes visitors from 7AM to 8PM year-round, making it a reliable destination whenever you're craving that perfect mix of recreation and nature.
Bring Your Furry Friends
Good news for dog owners: This park is incredibly dog-friendly, with pet waste stations strategically placed along the walking paths. The expansive grounds give your pup plenty of room to explore and exercise, but you might want to bring your own water bowl as dedicated dog fountains aren't part of the landscape. You'll notice plenty of locals from surrounding neighborhoods out walking their dogs - showing how popular the park is with dog owners.
