About the Location
A Century of Community Connection
Tucked away at the corner of Reed and Fisher Streets, this little 0.92-acre green haven has been a neighborhood treasure since 1923. Sylvanus F. Bowser and his wife Sarah - yes, the same Bowser who invented what eventually became the car fuel pump - donated this land with a simple wish: that it would always remain a place where locals could unwind and where children could play.
What You'll Find
Bowser Park celebrated its 100th birthday in August 2023 - quite the milestone for this modest urban retreat! Though small in size, it packs in everything you need for a pleasant afternoon outdoors.
There's a small playground where kids can burn off energy, a basketball court for shooting hoops, and an open grassy area meant for picnics or tossing a frisbee. Need a break? The park's shelter offers a picnic table where you can catch your breath and watch the world go by.
Plan Your Visit
You'll discover restroom facilities at the park, but do note they might not always be available. The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 11PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy this local space.
Keep in mind that Bowser Park is primarily a community space for locals rather than a destination park. And as with any city park, it's always smart to be aware of your surroundings, especially as evening approaches.
