About the Location

History and Location

Riverwood Park is an 11.6-acre public park located in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Indianapolis, Indiana. The park became part of the Indy Parks system in 2006.

Formerly, this site was home to White River Elementary School, which was later renamed Phoenix School.

Recreational Facilities

The park features a playground with multiple slides, swings, bridges, firemen poles, monkey bars, and a climbing wall. Adjacent to the playground is a splash pad, which operates from Memorial Day through Labor Day, providing a cool respite during hot summer months.

A large, grassy open field is available for various activities such as soccer or football. Basketball enthusiasts can enjoy the park's basketball courts.

Amenities

For those seeking a more relaxed visit, there is a shaded picnic shelter area with several tables, offering a pleasant spot for outdoor meals and gatherings.

Riverwood Park serves as the home field for Bishop Chatard High School's lacrosse and soccer teams.

Visitor Information

Visitors should note that shade is limited near the playground and splash pad areas. The restroom facilities and drinking fountains are located at a distance from these areas, so planning accordingly is advisable for families with young children.
