About the Location
Park Overview
Located on the southeast side of Indianapolis, Stanley Strader Park spans 14.5 acres of community space where suburban life meets natural surroundings. It sits at the edge where neighborhood streets meet woodland views, providing a natural setting within the city.
Formerly known as Bethel Park, this green space has evolved into a beloved gathering spot where neighborhood families come together. No matter if you're looking to shoot some hoops or simply enjoy a peaceful afternoon outdoors, this park offers a little something for everyone.
Indoor Facilities
The Family Center houses a full-sized basketball court and gymnasium that can be used regardless of the weather.
If you're looking to keep up with your fitness routine, the center also houses a modest fitness room with essential equipment. Need space for a community meeting or celebrating a special occasion? The Community Center offers several meeting rooms that work perfectly for gatherings like baby showers or local club meetings.
Outdoor Amenities
When the sun's shining, head outside to enjoy the park's softball diamond where local teams often gather for friendly competition. If you're feeling nostalgic for classic outdoor games, the horseshoe pits offer a chance to test your aim and enjoy this traditional pastime.
Kids will make a beeline for the playground, where they can climb, slide, and burn off energy while parents relax nearby. The grounds are well-kept, making it a pleasant spot for an afternoon picnic or simply unwinding with a good book.
Swimming Facilities
During the warmer months, the park's seasonal pool becomes a popular retreat from the summer heat. The main swimming area is typically clean and well-maintained, providing a refreshing spot to cool off.
Younger swimmers will appreciate the children's section with its various water features, but it's worth noting that the children's water slide and water bucket might occasionally be out of service.
