Bever Park

Historic Grounds

Bever Park is a sprawling green space located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Spanning 86 acres, this park has been a cherished part of the city's landscape for over a century, originally established in 1922.

Named after Henry C. Bever, a prominent Cedar Rapids philanthropist and former mayor, the park offers a diverse range of natural and recreational features.

Old MacDonald's Farm

One of the park's most notable attractions is Old MacDonald's Farm, a free petting farm open to the public from May through September. This city landmark, over 100 years old, features farm animals such as chickens, cattle, ducks, goats, lambs, pigs, and rabbits, as well as North American waterfowl.

Natural Beauty

Bever Park is known for its natural beauty, with towering trees, meticulously curated gardens, and winding trails that provide visitors with a tranquil escape from urban life. Rich Zoo History

Historically, Bever Park was once home to Cedar Rapids' largest zoo, housing a variety of exotic animals including tigers, lions, monkeys, ostriches, bears, and wolves. While the zoo is no longer operational, the park continues to be a hub for community activities and outdoor recreation.

Recreational Facilities

The park offers a range of facilities for sports and leisure activities, including tennis courts, softball fields, and a swimming pool. During winter months, an ice rink is available for seasonal enjoyment.
