Located in the Gardenside neighborhood, this pleasant 5.6-acre park provides a quiet retreat from everyday life. With its surrounding greenery, Gardenside Park works well for parents with kids, people wanting to exercise, or anyone looking for a peaceful place to relax.

Open since 1961, this modest local park offers various amenities that residents return to regularly.

Trails and Natural Features

A paved walking trail meanders through the landscaped grounds, providing a scenic route for your morning jog or afternoon stroll. While it's not extensive enough for a serious hike, it's just right for getting some steps in or enjoying a casual walk.

The park's passive woodlands offer quiet corners where you can reconnect with nature and maybe even spot some local wildlife.

We particularly like the creek that flows through the park, adding a pleasant background sound to your visit. A charming bridge spans the creek, connecting different sections of the park and offering an ideal spot for a quick photo.

Keep an eye out for the beautiful flowers that dot the landscape and take a moment to check out the educational signs about local bugs and plants - you might learn something new!

Recreation Facilities

There are two playgrounds with equipment for different age groups. The younger ones have their own dedicated space, while both areas include swings, slides, monkey bars, and climbing nets.

Sports enthusiasts can enjoy a game on the basketball court or try their hand at the increasingly popular pickleball court, which tends to draw quite a crowd during warmer months.

For those wanting to exercise outdoors, there's outdoor exercise equipment positioned along the trails with nice views of the park.

If you're planning a cookout, head to the grills located near the shelter on the other side of the bridge. And don't worry about cleanup - trash cans are conveniently placed nearby.

Additional Information

Feel free to bring your four-legged friends along - the park is dog-friendly, but you'll need to keep them leashed and clean up after them.

Note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly.

The park hosts neighborhood events, picnics, and nature activities throughout the year.

Gardenside Park has recently been renovated through Lexington's park restoration program, with updated playground equipment, new sidewalks, and other improvements.
