About Klondike Park

A Bit of History

Found in Louisville since 1973, this cozy 7-acre urban retreat has become the neighborhood's go-to spot for outdoor fun. Nestled south of Hikes Lane and west of Breckenridge Lane, Klondike Park sits on what was once considered the city's frontier.

The park has roots in Louisville's post-WWII growth spurt, when developers Edward Butler and Chester Cooper scooped up 45 acres from the Graff farm and a portion of the Hikes family's Midlane farm, transforming the landscape into what we enjoy today.

There's a charming local tale that the park was named after Frank Bumann, a Yukon prospector who supposedly opened the park - though we should mention this story hasn't been officially confirmed. Still, it adds a touch of mystique to your visit!

What You Can Do Here

Klondike Park sits in the heart of a residential area. You'll discover open green spaces great for throwing a frisbee, having a picnic, or simply lounging with a good book under the sky.

The park caters to everyone - from early birds getting in their morning jog to families gathering for afternoon outings, and even the evening crowd shooting hoops. Its convenient location makes it accessible for both quick visits and longer stays.
