About Lake Dreamland Park
Park Overview
Located in Louisville, Kentucky, Lake Dreamland Park is a cozy little urban retreat that's been serving the local community since 1972. At just 1.38 acres, it's certainly not the biggest park you'll discover, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in neighborhood charm. This modest green space offers a breath of fresh air for locals looking to enjoy some outdoor time.
The Name's Story
Here's a fun fact - despite what the name suggests, you won't find any lake at Lake Dreamland Park! The name actually comes from the surrounding Lake Dreamland neighborhood, which has its own fascinating backstory. Back in the 1930s, a developer named Ed Hartlage had grand visions of creating a resort community centered around an artificial lake. While his resort dreams may not have fully materialized, the name stuck around.
ADPour Your Own Candle Making Experience with Blending & Education
Bardstown is known for their BOURBON.—but we want to offer experiences that differ slightly and will be fun for the entire group. We take a slight jaunt off the Bourbon Trail and offer an opportunity to craft your own handmade candle as well as enjoy Kentucky Made Wines and Beers.
What You'll Find Here
If you're up for some hoops, the park offers a basketball court that's kept in pretty good shape. Got kids in tow? They'll likely make a beeline for the playground equipment, which is a hit with the neighborhood little ones.
Looking to enjoy an outdoor meal? The park features a pavilion with tables and benches that makes for a perfect picnic area. This shaded spot is ideal for everything from family lunches to casual community gatherings.
Good to Know
Note that there aren't any public restrooms or water fountains available at Lake Dreamland Park. You might want to plan accordingly, especially if you're bringing children along.
Though it may be small, Lake Dreamland Park provides a bit of green space and recreation for the surrounding neighborhood.
