Kathy Drive Park offers a variety of options for physical activity. If you're into team sports, you can find baseball, volleyball, and basketball courts fantastic for both organized games and impromptu matches with friends. The beach volleyball courts with their sandy surfaces are nice for games with family or friends on sunny afternoons.

Kids haven't been forgotten either - there's a playground where the little ones can burn off energy in a safe environment. While the equipment does the job, it's worth noting it's not the newest in town and could use some freshening up.

Take a Breather

Need some exercise that's a bit more low-key? The park features a walking trail that loops around for about 0.33 miles - great for tracking your steps or just enjoying a leisurely stroll through the greenery.

When hunger strikes, head to one of the covered picnic areas with tables. You'll come across these in two spots - one near the recreation center that comes with a grill (hello, weekend cookouts!), and another conveniently situated next to the volleyball courts. On those sweltering Louisiana days, you'll appreciate the shade trees scattered throughout the grounds.

Soccer enthusiasts will be happy to know there's a dedicated soccer field in addition to the baseball field, giving you more options to get your game on.

Community Connections

The park falls under the care of the Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) and welcomes visitors Monday through Friday from 3PM to 8PM. The recreation center is where the community magic happens, hosting various activities and programs. The youth sports camps here get particularly good reviews, and the center's staff tend to be helpful and ready to assist.
