About Riverbend Park
What's Here
Found in a peaceful corner of Baton Rouge, Riverbend Park is one of those local spots you might drive past without noticing - but it's absolutely worth discovering. Managed by BREC (the Recreation and Park Commission for East Baton Rouge Parish), this neighborhood park offers a mix of modern amenities and natural charm, providing a nice spot to unwind or play.
Many locals consider this a secluded area in the Riverbend neighborhood, offering a quiet escape from the bustle of the city without having to travel far from home.
Recent Upgrades
In 2018, the park received a major facelift that breathed new life into its facilities. The renovation brought a modern playground that kids seem to love, a smooth walking loop fantastic for your morning stroll or evening jog, and a refreshed pavilion where you can host anything from birthday parties to family reunions.
Sports enthusiasts weren't forgotten either - the park now features a renovated tennis court, a new half basketball court, and a pickleball court for those who've caught the pickleball fever. They've also improved the drainage systems, so you won't have to worry about soggy grounds keeping you away after a Louisiana rain shower.

Things to Do
You can enjoy a family picnic under the covered pavilion or use one of the uncovered tables throughout the park. The playground keeps the little ones entertained with swings, slides, and climbing structures in a safe environment.
If you're feeling more active, the unlighted ball and multi-purpose fields are excellent for an impromptu game of frisbee or catch. Nature lovers might enjoy a quiet walk through the green spaces and wooded areas - keep an eye out in spring for beautiful irises and wildflowers blooming in the swampy sections along the path.
Natural Beauty
The generous tree coverage around the park provides welcome shade on hot Louisiana days. The shade these mature trees provide makes even summer visits bearable.
An interesting bonus: the park sits near the Farr Park Equestrian Center, where you might catch glimpses of horses grazing in the fields. And if you're up for extending your outdoor adventure, follow the trail that leads to the Mississippi River walk for some stunning views of the mighty Mississippi.
Good to Know
While you'll come across a water fountain to quench your thirst, note that there aren't any restroom facilities here - something to keep in mind if you're planning a longer visit. The park is pet-friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friends along for some fresh air and exercise.
