Location and History

Bremen Street Park sits between the busy runways of Logan International Airport and the closely packed homes of East Boston's residential areas, an 18-acre green space that's been breathing fresh air into the neighborhood since 2007. The park's good maintenance and lighting make it a popular spot for East Boston residents.

As part of the East Boston Greenway, this park isn't just a standalone attraction - it's a piece of a larger puzzle connecting the community through shared paths and green spaces.

Park Features

Stroll through Bremen Street Park and you can find yourself wandering across sprawling grassy lawns, past playful playgrounds, and along welcoming walkways that invite everyone from toddlers to seniors. On hot summer days, the granite spray fountain becomes the neighborhood's favorite cooling spot.

Green-thumbed locals tend to the community garden, while the park's amphitheater transforms into a gathering space for performances and events organized by the Mary Ellen Welch Greenway group.

Playgrounds

Kids have plenty of room to burn energy here with several play areas designed with different age groups in mind. You'll find dedicated spaces for the little ones as well as more challenging structures for older children.

When temperatures rise, the multiple sprinklers become an instant hit. During school hours, the playgrounds fill with supervised elementary and middle schoolers climbing, sliding, and swinging on equipment that keeps them engaged and active.

Dog Park

Added in 2015, the park houses East Boston's only public dog park - a welcome addition for the neighborhood's four-legged residents. The thoughtfully designed space includes separate areas for large and small dogs, agility equipment for the athletic pups, and water fountains that serve both pets and their humans.

Comfortable seating areas encourage dog owners to socialize while their pets play. Though you won't find grass in the dog area itself, there's plenty of space for a game of fetch or just letting your dog run free for a while.

Getting to Bremen Street Park couldn't be easier - it connects directly to the Airport Station on the MBTA Blue Line, making it a breeze to visit even without a car. The smooth pathways of the East Boston Greenway make it a favorite for joggers and cyclists looking for a safe route through the area.

Across the park, you'll find plenty of benches for taking a breather, and public restrooms are available when nature calls. The park is flanked by some great community resources - the sleek Boston Public Library's East Boston Branch overlooks the green space, while the East Boston YMCA sits at its southwestern edge.
