Mayor Thomas M. Menino Park is a scenic and inclusive urban park situated in the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, Massachusetts. Opened in 2013, the park honors the legacy of Boston's long-time mayor, Thomas M. Menino, and is designed to promote accessibility, recovery, and recreation for people of all abilities.

Located adjacent to the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, the park holds significance as a therapeutic and recreational space that seamlessly integrates with the hospital's goals of physical recovery and community engagement.

Harbor Views and Historical Elements

The park boasts a waterfront location, featuring stunning views of Boston Harbor and the downtown skyline. Historically, the site served as the location of the Navy Yard's first dry dock, and elements of this heritage have been incorporated into its design.

Granite blocks from the original seawalls now form seating areas, elevated lawns, and viewing decks. The park also includes elements that allow visitors to connect with the working waterfront's vibrant ambiance.

Universal Accessibility

Menino Park is especially celebrated for its inclusivity, emphasizing universal accessibility. It was Boston's first universally accessible playground, equipped with sensory-rich play structures, ADA-compliant paths, and rubberized surfaces.
