Renovation Plans
In recent years, Canal Park has been the focus of renovation efforts aimed at enhancing its accessibility and recreational offerings. The City of Grand Rapids has unveiled plans for substantial improvements to the park, including the creation of a new universally accessible "River Story" play space.
Other planned enhancements include a multi-purpose plaza with an enclosed pavilion for events, river overlooks, seating terraces, and an accessible kayak launch platform. These improvements, with an estimated cost of $7.5 million, are designed to transform Canal Park into a vibrant, accessible community hub.
