A Bit of History

Positioned in Lansing, Michigan, Sharp Park spreads across a generous 57.8 acres of outdoor goodness. Established in 1976 through a land donation from the Forbes-Cohen Corporation, this green space blends natural scenery with plenty of ways to stay active.

Natural Wonders

At the heart of the park sits a peaceful two-acre fishing pond, reaching depths of 12-15 feet. It's the kind of spot where time seems to slow down as you watch ducks and geese go about their day on the water.

The park is laced with both paved and unpaved trails that wind through the landscape - perfect whether you're up for a casual stroll or a more energetic run. For those with extra time (and energy), the East-West Pathway connects to Horrocks Foods and beyond, offering up to a 5-mile journey if you're feeling ambitious.

Keep your eyes peeled while exploring - you might catch glimpses of deer, squirrels, chipmunks, and if you're lucky, even a majestic blue heron or two.

Get Your Game On

If you're more into sports than serenity, you'll appreciate the variety of courts available. Shoot some hoops on the basketball court, serve up a match on one of the three tennis courts, or dig your toes in the sand at the volleyball court. Team sports more your thing? The park boasts four softball fields - one even comes with lights for those evening games.

Families with kids will find multiple playgrounds designed with different age groups in mind. The bigger kids have their space, while toddlers get their own smaller playground. There's also a unique wooden maze that children of all ages seem to enjoy.

You can find exercise equipment stations dotted along the trails if you want to work out while enjoying the outdoors.

Planning a gathering? The park's picnic shelter fits up to 72 people, while the amphitheater can seat 300 for performances or community events. You'll also find plenty of picnic tables scattered throughout and open grassy areas ideal for spreading out a family blanket.

The park covers the basics well - restrooms, portable toilets along trails, grills for cookouts, a paved parking lot, and drinking water stations. There's even a charging table where you can juice up your phone while taking a breather. Wheelchair accessibility and dedicated handicap parking ensure everyone can enjoy what the park has to offer.

Community Vibes

Beyond day-to-day recreation, Sharp Park becomes a community hub during special events. The trick-or-treat trails during Halloween let kids collect candy from vendors set up along the walking paths. Other annual highlights include kids' days and the Delta Township Fireworks Display that brings neighbors together under summer skies.
