About the Location
A Quiet Corner of Nature
Situated in Sterling Heights, Ben Hadley Park may be small at just 3 acres, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. This little green haven offers a peaceful escape from the everyday hustle. We've noticed how spotless and well-kept the grounds are each time we visit - something that really enhances the serene vibe that both families and solo visitors seem to appreciate.
Kid-Friendly Fun Spot
The modern playground is definitely a highlight if you're bringing little ones along. With climbing structures, slides, and swings, it's fantastic for kids between 5-12 years old. Younger adventurers can still enjoy the equipment with a bit of help from adults. We love that they've included an accessible swing, making sure all children can join in the fun. You can find picnic tables dotted around the park, with some nestled under shade trees - ideal for a family lunch or catching up with friends outdoors.
Take a Stroll, Read a Story
One of our favorite features has to be the paved walking path that circles the park. It's flat and well-maintained, making it well-suited for a casual walk, taking your dog out, or getting in a few laps while your kids play. What makes this path special is the storybook trail that runs alongside it. These plaques with pages from children's books mounted on signs add a whimsical touch that kids absolutely love. It's such a creative way to blend nature and reading!
Easy Access for Everyone
The park is ADA accessible with ramps leading to play equipment, ensuring everyone can enjoy what it has to offer. If you're coming by bike, there are bike racks available to secure your ride. Driving? The small parking lot fits about 10-15 cars, but many locals simply walk in through access points from the surrounding neighborhood.
What Else to Expect
The grassy areas are always nicely mowed, giving you plenty of space to relax or play. You'll find benches across the park when you need a moment to sit and take in the surroundings. Just note that there aren't any restrooms on-site, so plan accordingly.
Dog owners in the area frequently use the paths for walks, making this a bit of a casual meeting spot for local pet lovers. Between the play equipment, walking trails, and unique literary elements, Ben Hadley Park makes for a lovely neighborhood spot when you need a quick escape or a place for the kids to burn off some energy.
