About Wiegand Park
Natural Beauty
Spread across 15 acres, Wiegand Park is a pleasant neighborhood green space located on Toepfer Road.
The park features a good mix of mature shade trees and open areas, making it a comfortable spot even on hot Michigan summer days. Walking paths wind through the grounds, and the picnic area tucked beneath the tree canopy is a particularly nice place to settle in for a while.
Recreation Facilities
The playground features a mix of classic equipment (including some of the old-school metal slides that might bring back childhood memories) alongside more modern pieces. There are two separate play areas catering to different age groups, which works well for families with kids of varying ages.

Sports fans will find three baseball diamonds in the southern half of the park. The fields see plenty of use and have bleacher seating for spectators.
Dog owners are welcome to bring their four-legged companions on a leash, and the walking path makes for a nice loop.
Amenities and Accessibility
The park has a picnic pavilion that can be rented for gatherings, complete with tables, benches, barbecue grills, and electrical hookups. Additional picnic tables are scattered throughout the grounds, many in shaded spots.

Wiegand Park is wheelchair accessible, with dedicated accessible parking. Restrooms are available in the comfort station, though it's worth knowing they are typically only opened during warmer months and for scheduled games, and are locked in the evenings.
New Addition
A splash pad has been added to the park and is expected to open in 2026, which should make Wiegand an even more popular destination for families during the summer months.
