About the Location

Explore the Demonstration Gardens

Found in the heart of Henderson is the Acacia Demonstration Gardens, a cool collaboration between the City of Henderson, the Conservation District of Southern Nevada, and other local organizations.

Wandering through these gardens, you'll discover over 100 different plant species that thrive in our desert climate. Most are drought-tolerant and low-maintenance - perfect if you're looking to create a beautiful yard without the water bill headache!

The gardens aren't just pretty to look at; they're educational too. You'll discover information about each plant, giving you ideas for your own sustainable garden project. Thanks to recent restoration efforts, the botanical garden area has regained its charm, making your visit that much more enjoyable.

The Gold Star Memorial by the gazebo offers a tribute to fallen service members, adding a moment of reflection to your visit.

Get Active with Recreational Options

Acacia Park has something for everyone when it comes to staying active. Sports enthusiasts can take advantage of the ball field, soccer fields, and basketball court for a friendly game or serious practice session.

If you're bringing the kids along, they'll love the playground with separate play sets designed for different age groups. No need to worry about the scorching desert sun - shade structures keep the equipment cool enough to touch, and the soft ground surface adds an extra layer of safety.

During those hot summer days, the splash pad becomes the park's most popular spot, with refreshing water streams shooting up from the ground - a simple but effective way to beat the heat!

Four-legged family members aren't forgotten either. The dog area includes separate spaces for small and large dogs, so your pup can socialize safely regardless of size.

Enjoy the Park Features

Spread across 16 acres, this public park offers plenty of open grass areas, great for frisbee games or just lounging with a good book. The walking course provides a pleasant route for your daily exercise or a leisurely stroll.

Planning a gathering? Take your pick of several covered picnic areas with tables throughout the park. You'll come across larger pavilions for big family reunions and cozier spots for more intimate meetups.

The well-maintained walking and biking trails connect to Henderson's larger trail system, making Acacia Park a great starting point for longer adventures. These paths wind through landscaped areas with scenic bridge crossings that make for nice photo opportunities.

Clean restroom facilities are available when nature calls, but you might want to bring hand sanitizer as soap dispensers aren't always stocked.

Feel Right at Home

You'll come across plenty of parking across the park, but from some lots, you'll need to walk a short distance to reach the playground and picnic areas. Note that the surrounding residential streets have parking restrictions, so stick to the designated areas.

Despite being near the intersection of Highway 95 and the 215 expressway, Acacia Park maintains a surprisingly peaceful atmosphere. Beautiful mountain views provide a stunning backdrop to your visit, and mature trees offer welcome shade in many areas. The park is generally clean and well-maintained.

If you're interested in desert-friendly gardening, time your visit during the landscaping workshops held in spring and fall. These sessions offer hands-on learning opportunities that might just transform your own backyard.
