About the Location

Lake & Water Activities

The centerpiece of Sparks Marina Park is the 77-acre Helms Lake, which was formed when a gravel pit filled with water during flooding in 1997. The lake is stocked with fish by the Nevada Department of Wildlife and offers opportunities for fishing, boating, and other water activities.

While gas-powered boats are not allowed on the lake, visitors can use non-motorized watercraft or boats with electric motors. There are two sand beaches along the shoreline where visitors can relax or swim during warmer months.

Trails & Recreation

The park features a 2-mile paved walking and biking trail that loops around the lake, providing scenic views of the water and surrounding landscape.

Sparks Marina Park includes several recreational facilities for public use. There are volleyball courts, playgrounds for children, and picnic areas with tables and grills.

Amenities & Accessibility

The park provides restroom facilities and is wheelchair accessible. A fenced dog park allows pets to play off-leash.

Located near shopping centers and easily accessible from major roads, Sparks Marina Park serves as a popular outdoor recreation destination for residents and visitors in the Reno-Sparks metropolitan area.

Special Events

The 109-acre public park hosts occasional special events and activities throughout the year.

The park offers opportunities for exercise, relaxation, and enjoyment of nature within an urban setting.
