Natural Features
Crystal Lake Park encompasses 15.4 acres of land, featuring Crystal Lake as its centerpiece. This natural pond provides opportunities for swimming, fishing, and boating during the warmer months.
The park is situated off Bodwell Road in the southern part of Manchester, offering residents and visitors a peaceful retreat within the city limits.
Beach Area
Crystal Lake Beach, a popular feature of the park, is open daily from 12 PM to 8 PM during the summer season. However, it's important to note that there are no lifeguards on duty, so visitors should exercise caution when engaging in water activities.
Historical Background
Crystal Lake Park has a rich history, with the lake formerly known as Skenker's Pond and later as Mosquito Pond. In 1919, the city of Manchester developed a public bathing area at the north end of the pond, which has since evolved into the current beach area.
The park's facilities have been expanded and renovated over the years to accommodate its growing popularity among local residents.
Seasonal Information
During the fall, winter, and spring seasons, the park's gate closes at sunset, limiting access to daytime hours only. This measure helps preserve the natural environment and ensures visitor safety during periods of reduced daylight.
