Located in a residential area, Lauren C. Boles Park has wide, open green spaces that provide a nice break from being indoors. Tall trees dot the landscape, casting refreshing shade that makes even summer days bearable. The spacious grassy areas are great for impromptu frisbee games, lazy afternoon reading, or spreading out a picnic blanket. Dog owners from around the neighborhood often bring their four-legged friends to burn off energy here, however keep in mind there's no dedicated off-leash area if your pup tends to wander.

Kid-Friendly Zone

If you've got little ones in tow, you'll appreciate the playground that thoughtfully separates equipment by age group. There's a structure designed specifically for toddlers and another nearby for the bigger kids, positioned cleverly so you can keep an eye on siblings of different ages simultaneously. Fair warning: the equipment shows some weathering from New Mexico's abundant sunshine, and you might want to check your kids' shoes for goat head stickers that occasionally hide in the sand. Despite these minor issues, it remains a neighborhood favorite for families.

Active Recreation

Feeling sporty? The park doesn't disappoint. Four tennis courts come complete with shade structures - a thoughtful touch that makes afternoon matches actually enjoyable rather than an endurance test against the sun. The basketball courts offer a great spot for pickup games or solo practice, however you'll want to wrap things up before dusk as evening lighting is limited.

Paths for Movement

For those who prefer gentler exercise, the walking paths and gravel running track that wrap around most of the park (except along the east side) provide perfect routes for daily steps or more vigorous jogs. The paths wind through the park's scenery, offering a pleasant environment for exercise.

Useful Features

Two picnic tables sit in the central area, making this a convenient spot for small family gatherings or casual meetups. One practical note: there are no restrooms on site, so plan accordingly. And for the Pokemon GO crowd, the park features two Pokestops and a gym - a nice bonus for digital adventurers.
