About the Location
Park Overview
Located in a peaceful neighborhood setting, Santa Fe Village Park spans 12.27 acres of community-friendly outdoor space. The large grassy fields provide plenty of room for tossing a frisbee with friends, practicing your soccer moves, or simply enjoying activities that need open space.
Trails
If you're in the mood for a leisurely stroll, the park offers a short loop trail circling the children's playground. The southern part gets a bit steeper, but nothing too challenging. For those wanting to stretch their legs a bit more, there's also a longer loop option.
The short loop runs about 0.3 miles with a super easy difficulty grade of 1, while the longer route extends to roughly 0.7 miles with a slightly more challenging grade of 1-2. Both trails feature concrete surfaces 4-6 feet wide, making them accessible for nearly everyone.
Recreational Facilities
Santa Fe Village Park offers both active and relaxing recreational opportunities. You'll find sports fields suitable for impromptu soccer games, a playground for children, and a designated dog park area where dogs can run off-leash.
Basketball fans can shoot some hoops at the on-site half-court, while volleyball enthusiasts can dig and spike at the sand court. For those looking to mix up their fitness routine, outdoor exercise equipment is scattered around the grounds.
Playground Area
The playground mainly caters to kids 6 and older, featuring slides, swings for babies and older children, and a particularly exciting zipline feature that tends to be a hit. There are also two YO-YO type swinging rides, including an accessible chair for children with disabilities - a thoughtful inclusion.
Most of the playground enjoys good shade coverage, making afternoon play sessions much more comfortable. While some equipment shows signs of its popularity through wear and tear, the variety of play options keeps children happily engaged.
Dog Park
The dog park is divided into separate areas for small and large breeds. Your pups will appreciate the frequent water stations with buckets and faucets throughout the fenced area, and you'll appreciate the convenient trash cans and poo bag dispensers.
The space offers good shade coverage, cedar wood chips underfoot, and comfortable benches where you can relax while your dog makes new friends. Concrete walking paths weave through the dog park, making it easy to navigate with your furry companion.
Access Information
You can park north of the Taylor Ranch Library, which sits across the open field to the south of the park. If you're using public transit, ABQ Ride bus routes #94 and #162 make stops nearby.
Getting to the park is easy thanks to wide sidewalks and a bike path surrounding the grounds, making it accessible whether you're walking, cycling, or rolling. Just remember to keep your dogs leashed outside the designated areas and clean up after yourselves to keep the park enjoyable for everyone.
