Located in University Park, Las Cruces, Pat & Lou Sisbarro Community Park spans a generous 17.2 acres just east of Aggie Memorial Stadium on the New Mexico State University campus. It's one of those sweet spots where college students and locals alike can escape for a breath of fresh air.

The university has thoughtfully dotted the landscape with dozens of trees, creating pockets of shade and enhancing the park's natural charm. There's something calming about walking beneath these trees, a simple reprieve from the everyday hustle.

Paths to Wander

If you're looking to stretch your legs, the park's walking and running trails meander through green spaces, offering a peaceful backdrop for your daily exercise or casual stroll. Whether you're training for a marathon or just taking your mind off things, the paths work for all paces. The paved track is particularly dog-friendly, but you'll want to keep your furry friend leashed as most visitors do.

You'll come across exercise stations positioned along the trail for those wanting to mix up their workout routine. Just a heads-up - some equipment might be showing its age. The good news is Las Cruces' mild climate means you can enjoy outdoor activities here most of the year.

Places to Pause

Need a spot for lunch or a small gathering? Head to the southeast section where covered picnic tables offer shade and a place to sit. If you're just passing through, benches scattered around the walking track provide perfect rest stops.

When it comes to staying hydrated, drinking fountains are available, with the most reliable one located near the restrooms. Speaking of which, restrooms are on-site, but they might not always be open.

Community Heart

This park does double duty as a community gathering space, most notably hosting the annual Fourth of July Celebration Concert and Fireworks display. Its open layout makes it ideal for everything from casual meetups to organized competitions that bring people together.

Nature Notes

Keep your eyes peeled for the park's smaller residents - squirrels darting between trees, rabbits nibbling at dawn, songbirds overhead, and if you're lucky, perhaps a turtle making its unhurried way across your path. These wildlife sightings can make each visit a little different.
