Nestled at the bustling intersection of Hudson Avenue, Dallius Street, and Liberty Street, Liberty Park stands as Albany's oldest public park. This modest circular green space might not immediately catch your eye, but it carries over three centuries of the city's history in its soil.

Dating back to the Dongan Charter of 1686 (yes, that's not a typo - 1686!), this land became part of Albany's public domain when the charter granted the city title to all property not privately owned. Though people had likely been gathering here for decades, it wasn't until 1806 that the area was formally organized as the public square we know today.

Liberty Park keeps things refreshingly simple. You'll come across a peaceful grassy area dotted with trees and benches - nothing flashy, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.
