Twin Gardens Design

Tucked between West Thames Street and Albany Street along South End Avenue, Rector Park features twin gardens that offer a little piece of tranquility in Lower Manhattan. The Battery Park City Authority teamed up with Innocenti-Webel and Vollmer Associates to create this sheltered green space that feels worlds away from the city's constant hum.

With its carefully tended gardens at both ends, the park provides a quiet spot where you can catch your breath and slow down for a moment.

A Peaceful Urban Retreat

Unlike parks designed for sports or active play, Rector Park embraces the art of doing very little. It's the kind of place where you can simply exist without an agenda. The park's proximity to Battery Park City's residential buildings makes it an easy escape for locals who need a dose of greenery.

Here, you can lose yourself in a good book, unwrap a sandwich on your lunch break, or just sit back and watch the world go by.

The design intentionally keeps things low-key, maintaining the park's character as a quiet refuge from the surrounding urban energy.
