About the Location

Waterfront Location

Henpeck Park is a small, 4-acre waterfront park located on the Erie Canal in Greece, New York, a suburb of Rochester. The park is owned by the New York State Canal Corporation and operated by the Town of Greece.

Situated along the popular Erie Canalway Trail, Henpeck Park offers visitors a quiet, scenic respite. The park provides access to the canal for fishing and non-motorized boating activities.

Recreation Opportunities

A cartop boat launch allows kayakers and canoeists to easily enter the water. While small in size, Henpeck Park offers basic amenities for picnicking and relaxation.

The park is particularly popular among boaters, bikers, and those looking to enjoy the natural beauty of the Erie Canal.

Historical Significance

Historically, the area where Henpeck Park now stands was once a bustling port known as the Port of South Greece in the 1800s. During that time, it featured a grocery store, post office, schoolhouse, 25 houses, and two doctors' offices.

Today, the park serves as a memorial to this historic canal stop.
