About the Location
Sports Facilities
Located on Velasko Road, this 22-acre recreational haven represents the beating heart for local sports in the area. The fields regularly host matches and practices for WOYSA (Western Onondaga Youth Soccer Association), Blue Wave Lacrosse, and Westhill School District teams.
You'll come across several well-maintained athletic fields excellent for soccer, lacrosse, and other field sports. Tennis players can claim one of the three tennis courts, while basketball enthusiasts have their own dedicated basketball court. If you're into pickleball, the park has four pickleball courts. There's also a race track for those looking to get their steps in or train for their next running event.
Family-Friendly Areas
If you're visiting with kids, you'll appreciate the three different playground areas that cater to various age groups. No more worrying about your toddler trying to navigate equipment designed for older children - each section has age-appropriate play structures. Just beside these play zones sits a shade shelter, fantastic for taking a breather while keeping an eye on the little ones.
Planning a family reunion or birthday celebration? The park's upper pavilion comes equipped with two large grills and is available for reservations. With its built-in power source, it's ideal for those gatherings where you need to plug in a slow cooker or charge your phone. Around the park, you'll also spot several covered picnic areas that operate on a first-come basis. If you're visiting during busy months, though, it's worth securing a reservation to avoid disappointment.
Tikes 'n Bikes Santaro Town
One of the park's standout features has to be the Tikes 'n Bikes Santaro Town area. This fenced enclosure creates a safe zone where kids can zoom around without parents constantly scanning for incoming traffic or wandering off.
It's particularly great for little ones still mastering their wheeled toys - whether that's in-line skates, big wheels, tricycles, or bikes with training wheels. You can relax a bit knowing your budding cyclist is developing skills in a secure environment.
Visitor Information
The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 9PM and can host events of up to 150 people with proper permits - making it suitable for everything from small team gatherings to larger community events. There's plenty of parking available, however it might get a bit cramped during tournament weekends or special events.
You'll discover clean, accessible restrooms available during park hours - a detail that shouldn't be underappreciated in public spaces. These facilities can also be opened specifically for reserved events. The overall cleanliness and upkeep of the park is notably good, something that regular visitors often mention.
