Craving something a bit more wild? The park's unpaved nature trails meander through wooded areas, offering a more rugged experience. For a quieter adventure, check out the west loop across Avent Ferry Road - this secluded 1.5-mile trail typically sees fewer visitors, allowing you to connect more deeply with nature without the crowds.

On the Water

The lake itself is a centerpiece of activity. If fishing is your thing, you can cast a line for largemouth bass, crappie, and catfish from the convenient fishing dock or shoreline spots around the lake.

During warmer months, the Waterfront Center offers rentals for non-motorized boating options including kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards. Paddling across the water gives you a different perspective of the park. A small beach area provides easy water access for those eager to get their feet wet.

Good to Know Before You Go

The park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 9PM, accommodating both early birds and evening strollers. Clean restrooms can be found at the main entrance and visitor center - always a practical consideration for longer visits.

Bring your four-legged friends along! The park is wonderfully dog-friendly, but your pups must stay leashed. You can find waste bags at several locations across the grounds.

One heads-up: parking can get tight, especially on weekends and during peak hours. While there are several lots positioned around the lake, it's worth planning ahead or arriving early if you're visiting during popular times, particularly if you plan to launch a boat.
