About the Location
Gone Fishing
Tucked away in Fargo is a little angler's paradise that's worth checking out. The fishing pond here is maintained through a partnership between the Fargo Park District and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. If you're hoping to reel something in, you'll come across largemouth bass, northern pike, and bullheads swimming about in these waters.
One thing we really appreciate about this spot is the ADA-accessible fishing ramp. It's refreshing to see a place that ensures everyone can enjoy the simple pleasure of casting a line, regardless of mobility challenges.
Beyond the Water
Fishing isn't the only draw here. Bring the kids along and let them burn off some energy at the playground area while you try your luck with the fish. It's an excellent setup for family time - you can keep an eye on the little ones while still enjoying your hobby.
When you're ready for a break, settle in at one of the picnic areas for a relaxing lunch. The walking trails are also lovely for a casual stroll, especially in the early evening when things quiet down.
Good to Know
Before you head out, there are a few rules to keep in mind. The pond operates on catch-and-release practices, so be prepared to send your catches back to their watery home. If you're 16 or older, don't forget your North Dakota fishing license - it's required here.
Note that swimming isn't allowed, and you'll need to leave gas-powered boat motors at home. The park welcomes visitors from 7:30AM to 10PM Monday through Saturday, and opens a bit earlier (6AM) on Sundays.
