Fairview Park is a public green space located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Situated on a hilltop, the park offers panoramic views of the Cincinnati skyline, Union Terminal, and distant vistas of the Ohio River.

The park spans approximately 31 acres and is nestled in the Fairview Heights neighborhood. Its elevated position makes it a popular spot for viewing sunsets and observing the city's changing scenery throughout the seasons.

Rich History

Originally part of land owned by Colonel John Riddle, a Revolutionary War veteran who came to Cincinnati in 1790, the area was subdivided in 1855. The park's creation is linked to the efforts of Isaac J. Miller, a prominent lawyer and political figure in the late 19th century, who championed for better access to the Fairview Heights area.

Historically, the park was connected to the city by the Fairview Incline, which operated from 1894 until the early 20th century. Today, remnants of this history can still be seen, including a former wine cellar entrance that belonged to Isaac Miller's tavern, which once stood on the hillside.

Natural Features

A notable feature of Fairview Park is its winding, one-way scenic drive that stretches for about three-quarters of a mile through densely forested hillsides. This provides visitors with a unique perspective of the surrounding landscape and city views.

The park's terrain is characterized by its hilly nature, offering a mix of open spaces and wooded areas. Fairview Park serves as a recreational space for locals and visitors alike, providing areas for picnicking, walking, and enjoying nature within an urban setting.
