About the Location
Breathtaking Views
Perched high above the city, Olden View Park offers stunning panoramas of downtown Cincinnati, the winding Ohio River, and the rolling hills beyond. If you're into photography, you've just found your new favorite spot - especially during sunrise or sunset when golden light bathes the city below in warm, Instagram-worthy hues.
A simple paved walking path winds through the park, with several benches perfectly positioned for soaking in those skyline views. There's a peaceful quality to sitting here, watching the Queen City sprawl out before you.
A Piece of Cincinnati History
This intimate park dates back to 1973, but the land it sits on tells a much older story. This was once home to the Price Hill Incline, which operated from 1874 until 1943. Think of it as Cincinnati's version of a historic cable car system that connected the hilltop neighborhood to the city below, fundamentally shaping how this part of town developed.
As you wander through the park, you'll notice bronze plaques that tell the tale of Price Hill and its famous incline. It's a nice touch that lets you connect with the city's past while enjoying its present beauty.
What to Expect
Despite its small footprint, Olden View packs a big experience. The atmosphere here is wonderfully laid-back - a great escape from the hustle below. Situated at the top of what was once the Price Hill Incline, the park offers a quiet retreat that feels worlds away from downtown, even though it's right there in front of you.
The open grassy area isn't huge, but works well for spreading out a blanket for impromptu picnics with an impressive view of the city. It's the kind of place where you can sit quietly, collect your thoughts, and gain a new perspective - both literally and figuratively.
Around the Park
One of the nice things about Olden View is that you're not stranded once you're done taking in the views. The surrounding area offers several restaurants, a cozy coffee shop, a theatre, and even an ice cream place within walking distance. You can easily make an afternoon or evening of your visit to this part of Cincinnati.
If you can, try to visit after dark when the city lights begin to twinkle below - it's a completely different but equally magical experience. The park also makes for prime viewing during summer fireworks displays, but be prepared to share the space with others who are in on this not-so-secret location.
Bringing Your Four-Legged Friends
Your pups are welcome here! While Olden View isn't a sprawling dog park, it is dog-friendly with enough grassy space for your furry friends to stretch their legs while you take in the scenery. The combination of fresh air and spectacular views makes for a refreshing walk for both of you.
