About the Location
A Glimpse into the Past
Found in Columbus's Greater Hilltop area, Glenwood Park spans a generous 16.72 acres. While it's a popular community space today, its story begins back in 1911 when Columbus first acquired the land.
Interestingly, this wasn't always meant to be a park. The Society for the Prevention and Cure of Tuberculosis initially purchased the property, hoping to establish an "open air" school. Those plans quickly changed when locals voiced their concerns, leading the city to buy the land and transform it into Glenwood Park in 1912.
What You'll Find
Glenwood Park strikes that perfect balance between untamed nature and well-designed recreational spaces. If you're in the mood for an active day out or just seeking a quiet moment of peace, this park offers both options.
A paved path meanders through the grounds, excellent for your morning jog or an evening stroll. The wooded sections aren't just pretty - they're home to local wildlife and offer a welcome escape from city life. It's an ideal spot to walk your dog or spend quality time with family among the trees.
During spring and summer, the park really shows off its beauty. You'll find the grounds clean and the atmosphere wonderfully serene - just what you need when craving some outdoor time.
Community Center and Amenities
At the heart of the park stands the Glenwood Community Center, a hub for local activities and programs catering to all ages. Here you'll come across spaces for indoor recreation and community gatherings, with regular events that bring neighbors together.
Fitness enthusiasts appreciate the center's workout room, which houses a variety of well-maintained exercise equipment. For the little ones, there's a dedicated activity room filled with engaging options to keep them entertained.
Right next to the community center is the Glenwood Pool - a summer favorite. The pool area maintains a calm atmosphere with attentive supervision, making it a great place to escape the heat. With features that some compare to a water park, it's especially entertaining for kids.
Recreation for Everyone
Sports fans can head to the basketball courts or try their hand at pickleball on the overlay courts. Families love the newly renovated playground with its clean, modern equipment. The interactive light feature is a particular hit with children.
Looking for a more relaxed experience? Settle in at one of the picnic tables or under the open-air shelter. The shelter house is available when you need a space for gatherings or community events.
Green thumbs in the neighborhood tend to the community garden, growing fresh produce while cultivating community bonds at the same time.

You can find convenient parking right off Fairmont Avenue, making your visit hassle-free. Clean, well-maintained restrooms mean you can comfortably extend your stay without worry.
With its mix of natural beauty and amenities, Glenwood Park serves the Greater Hilltop community as a space for recreation, relaxation, and social connections.
