History and Origins
Nelson Park is a 30.43-acre neighborhood park located in the Near East community of Columbus, Ohio. The park was given to the City of Columbus in 1920 by Anne Eliza, Mary F., Howard B., and Ada Ella W. Nelson in memory of David Nelson.
The park area includes a lot on the north end where a historic house was once erected and later removed. It also features the location of an old mill plaque, preserving a piece of local history.
Park Features
The park's land stretches north to the old water tank and out to Nelson Road. Nelson Park serves as a trailhead for the Alum Creek Trail, providing access to additional recreational areas.
The park offers a mix of natural and developed spaces, including wooded areas, open fields, and various recreational facilities.
