About Sensenbrenner Park
History and Dedication
Found in the heart of downtown Columbus, Sensenbrenner Park is a pocket-sized green retreat that brings a breath of fresh air to the urban landscape. Established in 1980, this little oasis was named after M.E. "Jack" Sensenbrenner, Columbus's mayor who served two terms - first from 1954 to 1960 and then from 1964 to 1972.
Location and Accessibility
Spanning 0.792 acres, this compact park sits directly across from Nationwide Plaza in downtown Columbus. Its central location makes it convenient for downtown workers on lunch breaks, residents seeking some greenery, and visitors exploring the city.
It offers a moment of quiet amid the downtown bustle.
Features and Amenities
The landscaped gardens and shady spots offer a nice change from the surrounding concrete and glass. At its heart, a fountain provides a visual focal point and helps mask some of the city noise.
Paved pathways wind through the space, ideal for a quick midday stroll or simply finding your way to a quiet bench.
Community Engagement
From time to time, Sensenbrenner Park comes alive with community events and lunchtime entertainment. Local musicians sometimes fill the air with live music, and radio stations occasionally set up for special broadcasts. These gatherings add a bit of liveliness to this small downtown green space.
