About the Location
A Pocket of Green in the City
Tucked away in Columbus' Harrison West community, Side by Side Park might be small at just 0.193 acres, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. Established in 2000, this little green haven offers an ideal spot to catch your breath amid the urban bustle. With its simple, grassy layout, it's the ideal place to pause and reset during your day.
Connected to Adventure
Perhaps the best thing about this park is that the Olentangy Trail runs right through it. This connection is your gateway to exploring larger green spaces nearby, including the Olentangy Trail Parkland and Perry Park. Regardless of whether you're on a bike, out for a run, or just enjoying a leisurely walk, the trail makes this tiny park an excellent pit stop. Need a moment? Two thoughtfully placed benches along the path invite you to sit and take in the surroundings.
Small Space, Noteworthy Details
Don't let its compact footprint fool you - Side by Side Park has some genuinely interesting features. The park showcases two sculptures that add an artistic touch to your visit. In spring and summer, the flower gardens burst into color, transforming the space into something special. Mature trees within the park not only provide welcome shade on sunny days but also attract a variety of birds, creating a peaceful soundtrack of nature right in the middle of the city.
A Local Space
While you won't find sprawling fields or elaborate playgrounds here, Side by Side Park is a valuable green space for the Harrison West community and trail users. It's a natural breathing space in an urban environment, where you can enjoy a quick escape or spread out a blanket for a small picnic on the grass. Sometimes the most valuable spaces are the ones that offer simplicity in just the right location.
