About the Location
Features and Amenities
Positioned in Toledo's landscape, Trilby Park offers a breath of fresh air for anyone looking to spend some quality time outdoors. The park features two baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and as of 2024, new pickleball courts for those wanting to try their hand at this increasingly popular sport.
Need a spot for your next family gathering? The park's indoor shelter house can be reserved for events big and small. It's air-conditioned (thank goodness for those muggy Ohio summers!) and makes an excellent backdrop for everything from reunion potlucks to graduation celebrations. Right outside, you'll come across a large canopy-covered picnic area that can be rented on its own or bundled with the indoor space for larger get-togethers.
Recreation Opportunities
Trilby Park has something for everyone in the recreation department. Kids can burn off energy at the playground area with swings and climbing structures, but we should mention some of the equipment could use a little TLC. Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the two baseball diamonds (one sporting metal benches, the other with wooden benches and stands), a tree-shaded basketball court with two hoops, and courts for both tennis and pickleball.
For those who prefer a more relaxed pace, a paved walking path winds around the park's perimeter - meant for a casual stroll, bike ride, or walking your four-legged friend. The park's open fields provide plenty of space to toss a frisbee or kick a soccer ball, while mature oak trees create welcome patches of shade when the temperature climbs.
Picnic and Gathering Areas
For outdoor dining and social spaces, Trilby Park offers several options. Beyond the indoor shelter, you'll discover two covered picnic areas furnished with multiple tables. If you head to the McGregor Lane side, you'll find an open picnic area complete with charcoal grills and a mix of metal and wooden tables - ideal for cooking up some summer favorites. There's also a cozy gazebo that works wonderfully for smaller gatherings or just finding a quiet spot to read.
Accessibility and Parking
Getting to and around Trilby Park is straightforward, with a paved lot offering 25 regular spaces and two accessible spots near the rentable building. If that fills up (which can happen during popular weekend hours), you can find additional gravel parking areas along both the Shawnee and McGregor Lane boundaries.
Community Significance
Located in the Trilby neighborhood of West Toledo, this park offers green space and recreational opportunities for locals. With its towering trees, open fields, and various amenities, it's a popular spot for nearby residents to enjoy activities from impromptu basketball games to family celebrations.
