About the Location
Park Overview
Nestled between Albany Street and Omaha Street in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Preserve Park offers a quiet retreat in Broken Arrow. This newer addition to the community spans 22.5 acres of green space. One of the park's highlights is its paved walking trail that stretches about one mile around a picturesque retention pond - excellent for your morning jog or an evening stroll to clear your mind.
History and Development
Preserve Park opened on June 14, 2022, adding to Broken Arrow's outdoor spaces. The park was funded through General Obligation Bond Packages from 2011, 2014, and 2018.
Recreational Facilities
Kids will find plenty to love at the modern playground, which offers equipment for various age groups. The play area includes three regular swings and a thoughtfully designed swing that allows an adult and toddler to enjoy swinging together. When temperatures rise, the adjacent splash pad becomes the place to be, with interactive water features and spinning elements that keep children entertained for hours.
Need a break after all that activity? The covered picnic tables provide welcome shade for lunch or a snack break. Since everything is relatively new, the facilities remain in excellent condition - a nice perk of visiting a recently developed park.
Natural Environment
The pond and wooded areas create little pockets of habitat where you might spot local wildlife during your visit. Early birds are rewarded with the best chances to see various feathered friends and small creatures going about their day. If fishing is your thing, you'll be happy to hear that some visitors report that fishing is permitted in the pond.
Just a heads-up: after heavy rains, parts of the trail - particularly the lower sections - can get a bit waterlogged. You might want to wear appropriate footwear or plan your visit accordingly if there's been recent rainfall.
Features and Accessibility
Inclusion was clearly a priority in Preserve Park's design, with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessible features ensuring everyone can enjoy what the park has to offer. Four-legged family members are welcome too, making it a great spot for dog walks. Note that there are no public restrooms available, so plan accordingly before your visit.
Management and Location
Preserve Park falls under the care of the City of Broken Arrow Parks and Recreation Department, which manages an impressive portfolio of more than 1,000 acres of public land and 43 parks throughout the city. Its location within a residential area makes it a true local park - just step outside and you're there. The park welcomes visitors daily from 7AM to 11PM, with the splash pad closing earlier at 8PM.
