About the Location

History and Purpose

Reflection Park is a small neighborhood park located in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The park was established in 2019 on the site of a former residential property in the Indian Springs community.

The park was created as a memorial to honor the victims of a tragic family murder that occurred at the location in 2015. It also serves to recognize the first responders who were called to the scene of the crime.

Park Features

Reflection Park features a gazebo, several benches, and a walking pathway. The design is intended to provide a quiet space for contemplation and remembrance within the neighborhood.

The park has been open to the public since March 2019.

Community Impact

Community reactions to the park have been mixed. Some residents appreciate having a peaceful green space, while others would have preferred the lot to remain empty or have a new home built.

However, there is general agreement that the park is preferable to leaving a visible reminder of the tragedy that occurred at the site.

The park represents an effort by the city to transform a location associated with a horrific event into a place that can promote healing and reflection for the surrounding community.
