About June Benson Park
A Piece of Norman History
June Benson Park honors June Benson herself - the woman who broke the glass ceiling as Norman's first female mayor back in 1957. This cozy neighborhood spot keeps her pioneering spirit alive right in the heart of the community.
What You'll Find
The moment you step in, you're welcomed by the gentle embrace of mature trees casting dappled shadows across the grounds. There's something calming about the concrete paths that meander through the park - great for a thoughtful morning stroll or a light jog to clear your mind.

At the heart of it all stands a charming wooden gazebo, representing both a landmark and a gathering spot. It's one of those places where you can sit for a moment, catch your breath, and just be.
For the Young (and Young at Heart)
If you've got little ones in tow, the playground area is a hit with equipment that caters to kids of different ages. Parents can breathe a little easier knowing the play area sits on cushioned surfacing designed to soften any tumbles.
Around the park, you'll find benches perfectly positioned along the walkways and nestled in grassy spots - ideal for people-watching, reading a book, or simply soaking in some vitamin D.
Beyond a Park
Despite its modest size, this space seamlessly balances active recreation with moments of tranquility. There's something about the atmosphere here that just feels right - peaceful, positive, and refreshingly unpretentious.
For locals, June Benson Park offers a nice patch of green where you can escape without really leaving the neighborhood. Regardless of whether you're planning a small gathering or just need a moment with nature, this secluded area in Norman's park system is a pleasant retreat.
