Ruby Grant Park

History and Legacy

Ruby Grant Park is a 144-acre community park located in Norman, Oklahoma. Situated at 3110 W. Franklin Road, the park opened to the public in December 2020 as part of the Norman Forward initiative, a citizen-led proposal to create new and enhance existing parks and recreational facilities in the city.

The park is named after Ruby Grant, a local educator who lived most of her life on the site in a modest home built by her parents shortly after the Land Run of 1889. Before her passing in 1998, Grant arranged for her family assets to be given to the University of Oklahoma to support the School of Music and a reading program. The City of Norman later purchased the site to develop it into a public park.

Park Amenities

Ruby Grant Park features a diverse range of facilities catering to various outdoor activities and interests. The park includes multiple walking and running trails, including a competitive cross-country trail facility.

For sports enthusiasts, there are practice fields and an 18-hole disc golf course. Families can enjoy the inclusive playground, which is designed to be accessible to children of all abilities.

The park also includes a dog park, allowing pet owners to let their furry friends run and play off-leash in a designated area.

Multiple picnic pavilions are available for gatherings and events, and restroom facilities are conveniently located within the park grounds.
