Park Overview

Located in the East Memphis area, Holmes Park spans 20 peaceful acres that serve as a welcome escape from city life. This tranquil green space offers a little piece of serenity within Memphis, Tennessee. It's the kind of place where you can take a deep breath, feel your shoulders relax, and actually hear the birds singing instead of traffic honking.

Walking Trail

Looking to get your steps in? The park features a 0.5-mile paved walking trail that meanders through the grounds. Not feeling the pavement? You've got options - there's also a gravel path and a more adventurous natural trail if you prefer something less manicured.

The scenery along these paths is genuinely beautiful, making even a quick walk feel refreshing. You can find benches strategically placed throughout, fantastic for catching your breath, reading a few pages of that book you've been meaning to finish, or simply watching the world go by.

Recreational Facilities

The open ball fields here are wonderfully versatile. They're great for organizing an impromptu soccer match, tossing a frisbee around, or spreading out a picnic blanket.

Scattered throughout the park, you'll discover picnic tables that make al fresco dining a breeze - no balancing paper plates on your lap required. They're ideal for everything from family lunches to casual meetups with friends.

Family Amenities

Near the entrance, a playground area awaits the younger crowd. It's a space where kids can burn off energy while parents take advantage of a moment's peace. The play area includes swings and other equipment, but it's worth noting that some of the playground fixtures could use a little TLC and updating.

One of the park's more unique features is its lazy river area - a relaxing spot that adds character to Holmes Park and gives visitors another reason to linger a little longer.

While there is technically off-street parking available, it can fill up quickly. Be prepared to park on surrounding streets if the lot is full, especially during popular times. Despite this minor inconvenience, the park's spaciousness and variety of amenities make it worth the visit.

Dog owners, take note: while Holmes Park itself isn't specifically designed for four-legged friends, there is a dog park located nearby where your pup can run free. A perfect way to combine activities if you're planning a day out with your canine companion.
