Historic Origins
Centennial Park is a 132-acre urban park located in Nashville, Tennessee. Established in 1903, it sits approximately two miles west of downtown Nashville across from Vanderbilt University.
The park was originally the site of the 1897 Tennessee Centennial and International Exposition, celebrating the state's 100th anniversary of statehood.

The Parthenon
The centerpiece of Centennial Park is the Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the ancient Greek temple in Athens. Originally built as a temporary structure for the 1897 Exposition, it was rebuilt in permanent materials between 1920-1931 due to its popularity.
Today, the Parthenon serves as an art museum featuring both permanent and traveling exhibits.

Natural Features
Centennial Park features Lake Watauga, an artificial lake created for the 1897 Exposition. Visitors can enjoy paddle boating on the lake or stroll along its shores.
In 2017, Cockrill Spring was uncovered and restored, providing a sustainable water source for the park.

Amenities and Recreation
The park includes a one-mile walking trail, sunken gardens, and a bandshell that hosts various musical and theatrical performances throughout the year.
The park underwent significant renovations in recent years, including improvements to the Great Lawn, a 19-acre open space ideal for large gatherings and events.

Community Hub
Centennial Park serves as a cultural and recreational hub for Nashville residents and visitors alike. It hosts numerous events year-round, including the Tennessee Craft Fair, Musicians Corner concert series, and Shakespeare in the Park performances.
The park's diverse amenities and historical significance make it a popular destination for both leisure and learning.
