What started as a modest playground has grown into a 6.9-acre green space that many call their "beautiful and historical nearby retreat."

Nature's Urban Retreat

With its generous grassy fields and leafy trees providing much-needed shade, Metz provides a peaceful break from city life. The park sits near Lady Bird Lake, treating you to lovely water views and easy access to the hike and bike trail that meanders along the shoreline.

If you wander behind the recreation center, you'll discover a spacious open area that's great for letting kids (or adults who still feel like kids) run wild. The layout works well for everything from casual family outings to Easter picnics where the community comes together.

Play Your Heart Out

When the Texas heat cranks up, the park's swimming pool offers welcome relief. The park includes basketball courts, tennis courts, and a baseball diamond for various sports activities.

The covered basketball court has six fully-netted goals and provides protection from both rain and sun. With lights typically glowing until 10 PM, evening pickup games are a regular sight here.

A newer addition that's gained quite a following is the multi-use court, where you'll discover bike polo players and pickleball enthusiasts showing up almost daily to enjoy their sports of choice.
