Mack Park
About Mack Park
A Piece of Denton's History
Located about 1.7 miles (or an 8-minute drive) from Denton Square, Mack Park is a 21.62-acre green space popular with both sports enthusiasts and families.
The park carries a touching backstory, named in honor of Warren Bryan Mack who passed away in 1952 at age 56. His wife Pauline dedicated the park to his memory just a year after the couple had begun positions at what was then Texas State College for Women, now known as Texas Woman's University.
What You'll Find Here
If you're bringing little ones, the multiple playgrounds come with shade structures - particularly useful during hot Texas summer days.
There's also a spacious pavilion that provides perfect cover for family gatherings, birthday parties, or just a casual picnic when you need a break from the sun.
Baseball Heaven
The main attraction at Mack Park is Roberts Field, with lighted baseball fields that allow games to continue into the evening. The lighting system is actually quite good, making nighttime games a pleasant experience rather than a squinting contest.
If you're a baseball enthusiast, you'll notice Field 1 sports a newer pitching mound, while Field 2's mound could use a bit of TLC. The complex doesn't skimp on practice facilities either, offering ample bullpens and netted areas great for soft toss or tee hitting practice.
During game days, the concession stand opens up, saving you from packing snacks. The covered seating areas offer dual protection - keeping both the sun and wayward foul balls at bay.
Beyond Baseball
Not into America's pastime? No problem. The park balances its baseball focus with other recreational options including basketball courts and scattered picnic areas around the grounds.
The layout works well for various activities - whether you're planning a competitive tournament or just need some green space to let the kids burn off energy.
There's something calming about this park too. Despite hosting youth baseball leagues (with fields sized just right for 14U and 16U baseball), it maintains a peaceful atmosphere that makes it a nice spot to decompress and enjoy the outdoors.
Good to Know
You'll find parking available, but you might want to arrive early on game days when spaces fill up quickly.
The park welcomes visitors daily from 6AM to 10PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy everything it has to offer throughout the week.
