About the Location
A Piece of Fort Worth History
Located in northwest Fort Worth, Lincoln Park (sometimes known as Quality Grove Park) spans seven peaceful acres along Marine Creek. Since 1934, this little green haven has been a cornerstone for the neighboring African American community, quietly witnessing the changing tides of Texas history.
The park has evolved quite a bit over its lifetime. Back in the day, it featured a stone restroom facility designed by the landscape architects Hare and Hare and constructed through Depression-era work programs. Like many of the original features, this structure has since been removed, making way for more contemporary additions.
Growing Through the Decades
1941 marked a significant upgrade when a WPA project reinforced Marine Creek's banks with stone and enhanced the recreational offerings.
In 1960, reflecting the unfortunate reality of segregation policies, the city added a swimming pool and bathhouse to the park. These too have disappeared with time, as Lincoln Park continued to transform alongside the community it serves.
What You'll Find Today
If you're looking to get active, Lincoln Park offers several options. There's a well-maintained softball/baseball field for those weekend games, a pavilion meant for family gatherings or a bit of shade, and a playground with swings that cater to kids of different ages.
Fancy a game of volleyball? The sand volleyball court awaits your next match. All the while, the gentle sounds of Marine Creek provide a soothing soundtrack to your park adventure.
Natural Surroundings
What really makes Lincoln Park special is its balance of recreational spaces and natural beauty. Mature trees scatter across the grounds, offering welcome relief from the Texas sun on hot afternoons.
Take a moment to appreciate the wildlife that calls this place home - from frogs hopping near the creek banks to majestic cranes wading in the shallow waters. The well-kept landscape creates an ideal backdrop for both energetic activities and quiet moments of reflection.
Part of Something Bigger
Lincoln Park isn't just a standalone destination - it's one piece of the larger Marine Creek Park Corridor, which includes Buck Sansom, Marine Creek Linear North, Marine Creek Linear, and Rodeo Park. This connected greenway actually resembles the parkway that Hare and Hare originally envisioned for the area.
A paved trail connects Lincoln to Buck Sansom Park northward and extends toward the Stockyards to the south. One charming quirk of the location? Being near horse ranches means you might spot riders trotting along the trails during your visit.
Since 2013, the city has been implementing improvements to the entire corridor, following plans developed in 2010 to enhance this string of community spaces.
